2020 Silver Linings

2020 was largely an absolutely no good, dirty, rotten flaming stinking garbage pile of a year. Between mass viral death, the President keeping up a strict schedule of doing crimes, quarantining, global warming, the Great Reset, and all of the other bad things happening nonstop, time finally decoupled from linearity and we fully lifted off the planet in a collective attempt to escape real life. In fact, I’m pretty sure the only point everyone was on the same page was that day Trump got c*vid. (It’s OK. You’re safe inside your dreams.)

Despite this, Activate Media trucked along, doing exactly what Activate Medias are supposed to do: help people tell stories really damn well.

Business grew, of course, but I also had a bunch of significant professional improvements too. Most new clients in a month (4), most involved camera I’ve ever owned (Sony A7SIII), first TV ad buy (a thing that is conventionally gatekept and perceived to be inaccessible – not so!), helped out with a product launch for the first time (warehousing software, took me awhile to wrap my head around), most wins in a year (8), first wedding shoot (the theme was sunflowers), and first Milky Way photo (not really business-related, still cool as heck). I also brought some stellar new minds into the Activate collective, and the results were really impressive.

So long story short, life just keeps getting better.

Thanks to all of you for the support, and I’ll just leave some make-me-smile stills from this year down below (and, of course, if you want to watch some of the video highlights, they’ll be up here). F2020 and let’s blast off in 2021.

-Dave
